Delivered by your local Mind, the Children and Young people Supported
Self-help programme is an evidence-based mental health service for 11 to 18
year olds.

Supported Self-help gives young people the skills to understand, protect,
and improve their mental health.

Trained mental health practitioners deliver a 6 to 8 week course in a
community setting to help provide tools and coping skills to managing a
range of mental health topics. The first session is a 40 minute
introduction to discuss what support the young person needs. A young person
can bring their trusted adult to the introductory session and this decision
is always young person led. If both the young person and practitioner feel
that Supported Self-help is appropriate they will have five 20-minute
sessions using evidence-based tools and resources to develop a wellbeing
toolkit.

The topics covered within the programme are varied and include some of the
following:

  1. Grief & Loss
  2. Anger
  3. Self-esteem
  4. Low Mood
  5. Anxiety & Worrying
  6. Stress

Workshops are also delivered throughout the year on various subjects such
as Exam Stress and Coping with Change -Transition for pupils
