About Swansea Mind

Swansea Mind is a registered Charity that works with, and for, people who experience mental health problems.

Although it is affiliated to Mind (National Association for Mental Health), it is an independent organisation.


Swansea Mind’s general aim is to promote mental health and to assist people with mental health problems, in line with the Aims and Objectives of Mind.


Our specific Aims and Objectives are as follows:

 

To support and empower people with mental health problems

  • By providing information that people need so that they are aware of their rights and can make informed decisions
  • By helping people take control of their lives
  • By assisting people to take part in planning, managing and running services
 



To work towards good practice in mental health services based on the wishes,
needs and rights of people who use these services

  • By working with health, social services and voluntary organisations to encourage Mental Health services to be planned and run according to the wishes and rights of people who use them

  • By campaigning locally and nationally

  • By providing training, information and campaigning on mental health issues to other organisations and people

 



To raise public awareness of mental health issues

  • By providing training, information and campaigning on mental health issues to other organisations and people

  • By providing and distributing useful information produced by other mental health organisations

  • By working with the media to highlight mental health issues

 



To work towards a more sustainable organisation

  • By diversifying funding base

  • By attracting and retaining volunteers, staff and trustees with the skills and experience required by the organisation

  • By reviewing service user involvement

  • By maximising the potential for organisational space
  • By embedding quality throughout the organisation
  • By raising the profile of Swansea Mind
